Money laundering and terrorist financing have become a major problem in the financial sector and requires significant efforts to combat. However, even the arts sector is not immune to these criminal practices. Thus, AML and CTF regulations are crucial in ensuring that the art market is not used as a conduit for illegal activities. Art dealers, auction houses, and other market participants are considered "financial institutions" under AML/CTF laws and are therefore subject to the same regulatory requirements as banks and other traditional financial institutions. This includes the requirement to have in place an effective AML/CTF program that is designed to detect and report suspicious activities. For these reasons, we have created a podcast that discusses the ways in which the art industry is affected by AML/CFT regulations. It is aimed at art industry professionals, including artists, gallery owners, and art collectors, as well as those working in finance and compliance.
